Rattle Making

  Rattle Making Half Days:

Dates may be booked upon request if there is no date posted here.

Cost £40 covers workshop and all materials.

RATTLES - We can offer you a lovely time crafting and creating your very own rattle if you join us for this wonderful afternoon. A rattle is a great addition to your toolbox, whether you use it for joining in with drum circles and the like, or putting it to good use as a medicine tool. It can be as small or big as you like, you can be as creative with shapes as you want to be, or stick to more traditional simple shapes. We'll work with red deer or horse hide, in a mindful, respectful and thoughtful way, completely honouring the life of the animal as we go. Bring your own stick or we'll provide one for you, ours are from windfall on the banks of Derwentwater in the Lake District. As the rattle head takes some time to dry, the afternoon will be spent crafting the shape and sewing and moulding it to fit your stick. Then you take it home, allow it to dry out naturally, add the "rattle" and then either bring it back for us to attach to its stick, or it's a simple job to do it yourself. All instruction and materials including refreshments, £40.

Deposit of £10 required upon booking please.
