The djembe, from West Africa, is a traditional drum which is carved from a single piece of hardwood and topped with an animal skin.
Our friendly djembe workshops take place roughly once a month, on Sunday mornings in Essex at the Hadleigh Old Fire Station. We explore a range of rhythms for djembes and dunduns, usually trying out 3 or 4 different rhythms in each session.

We have djembes to share, so booking is strongly advised if you would like to borrow one. The cost of a session is £10 per person.
Our djembe workshops aren’t advised for younger children, but young people who are physically strong enough to sit with a djembe will be OK.
